Position Summary
EdTA seeks a Managing Editor, Digital Publications to produce online and digital publications for our student and teacher members and the theatre education community.

Job Description
The Managing Editor, Digital Publications is responsible for the launch of Dramatics magazine online and the creation of unique audio/video materials as well as re-purposed print content.

Specific Responsibilities

  1. Plans, creates, and produces content for online and digital publications.
  2. With Publications team, generates story ideas, sources media for content and images, and develops interactive digital content.
  3. Assigns editorial tasks supervises production.
  4. Reviews submitted materials for thoroughness of content, use of language, clarity, and suggests improvements for the writer.
  5. Writes articles and other content, performs copyediting, and edits audio and video content as needed.
  6. Runs productions meetings, maintains workflow schedules, and troubleshoots editorial and production problems.
  7. Maintains standards and manages deadlines for publications.
  8. Studies analytics to make data-driven content choices to optimize digital publications strategy.
  9. Maintains available list of freelancers to create and produce content as needed.
  10. Oversees freelancer contracts and invoices in keeping with department budget guidelines.

Education Required
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or Digital Media or equivalent preferred

Skills and Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of editorial and publications experience, with particular emphasis in online publication or digital magazine production
  • Advanced copywriting and editing skills
  • Must be digital savvy with strong social media skills
  • Theatre or arts background a plus
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, as well as online platforms such as WordPress and SEO concepts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organization, multi-tasking, and time management skills.
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to think and act independently, within one’s authority.

Job Description

  • Working hours: 40 hours per week, including 26 hours teaching. Two days off per week.
  • Age groups: 3 to 12 years old.
  • Prepare for classes at least one day before scheduled class.
  • Prepare necessary teaching aids or props for each class where necessary.
  • Review your student observations before preparing for the end of term evaluations.
  • When necessary, be ready to substitute another teacher in classes where called upon by the supervisor.
  • Maintain excellent communication with parents and students before and after class.
  • Prepare and Assist in Event Days and Theme Days activities.
  • Conduct and/or assist in demo classes
  • Contribute suggestions and improvements in the marketing and/or field activities to increase the new student enrollments.

Job Description

Position Title: Technical Director

Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities for this position will be teaching courses in technical theater, stage management and assist in the general education core curriculum. As technical director this individual will supervise the technical implementation of scenic, lighting, and sound elements for a five to six production academic season. In addition, they will design and serve as safety coordinator for production facilities, including the shops and three performance venues (Main Stage, Black Box and Dance Studio) as well as maintenance of equipment. They will oversee the technical budget and operational scheduling. This position also oversees the in-house rental program of theatrical properties and scenery pieces. The Technical Director supervises students, shop foreman, student workers, contracted carpenters, painters and electricians.

Additional responsibilities may include:

      • Working with college and university leadership to recruit and retain students.
      • Advising students.
      • Actively participating in service to the University through committee participation, School and/or University level as well as service to the broader professional community.
      • Maintaining active professional scholarship.
      • Advancing the APU mission, vision, and strategic plan.
      • Other duties as assigned by the Chair.
      • May be needed to work at alternative Regional Campuses or Sites.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:

      • Bachelor of Arts required. MFA in Technical Theater or equivalent professional experience preferred.
      • Experience: 5 years experience in technical theater with an emphasis in theatrical construction, electrical lighting, sound and design experience. Stage management a focus.

Mental Demands:

      • Ability to integrate Christian values in all aspects.
